I never have any idea what to say in these things so forgive the ramble. It has escaped and is treading all over.

So I went to a lovely gathering of wonderful people today. Basically it was a steampunk sewing circle here in Salt Lake with people coming in from as far as the Logan area. They handed me a pattern (waistcoat) and that got me started on a project. Now while most of the day was spent cutting out that pattern (still not done yet) I got to see them work on their own and chat with them. I spent roughly four hours doing this but it was a blast! Learning to make my own ideas come to life, and not having to rely on what the stores carry should be a huge help into getting further into the realm of costuming.  While I hope to have all this ready for Teslacon (I'm saving up to go) the nearer deadline is the Masquerade Ball which is something I can't hope but to have something ready for.  My first foray into costuming was dieselpunk because the ease of finding good looking clothes for the part, but I really hope to be able to capture the DIY culture that steampunk carries with it.

Anyway, I hope to have something ready for the masquerade and am working on costume ideas at this moment. I hope to play up the supernatural with the costume and I think want to be either a werewolf or an alchemist. I might be stretching myself thin with that... but it sounds fun to me. And this is what its about right?

I'm going to Steamfest Salt City this Friday and Saturday. I've put together my first ever character for this type of thing, and I think it looks awesome, even audaisicious. Anyway, if you are going to be there come say hi.

Also follow me on twitter lordoflions.
